November Inspiration

Well, fancy meeting you here! It has been quite some time since I have posted and I apologize for the hiatus! Between traveling, weddings and working two jobs, the Summer and most of Fall has slipped away from me. But...along with the colder temperatures, I am finding myself wanting to curl up on the couch and spend some quality time with my Mac!

Now down to business. I have been absolutely loving the poncho/cape trend that is blowing up right now. This Fall has brought on a play with proportions and I adore the look of an over-sized top with some skinnies and statement booties. Being from Minnesota and surviving frigid temps along with ridiculous amounts of snow while attempting to be fashionable is usually difficult, not anymore. What an idea: clothing that is stylish and practical! I'm now on the hunt to find anything oversized that may or may not resemble a blanket...

Here are my fav's, ranging from ladylike to blanky-like:

How To: Winter White

Untitled

I just hate the cliche fashion rule that white should only be worn between Memorial Day & Labor Day. I am one of those people that lives in white during the summer, so who says it can't be done during other times of the year? I think this rule is definitely meant to be broken - enter Winter White. This color is a great way to incorporate some white into your Winter wardrobe. It is super classy and is such a great neutral. So go ahead, break this fashion rule and add some Winter White into your wardrobe!

How To: Maxi Skirts

As much as I have lived in jeans and boots this winter, I love the idea of mixing up my cold weather style and dressing more feminine. The maxi skirt is the perfect solution to get out of a boring winter style rut. Maxi's can also easily transition into Spring/Summer (I'll do another How To: Maxi Skirts when it warms up!) I think this piece adds a ladylike touch to an outfit and looks best with a tucked in top and platforms - the higher the better; the skirt will most likely cover them but it will make your legs look super model long!

Bags & Booties

-

Lately I have been all about the ladylike details of chain bags. These bags bring class to any outfit but are updated enough to not be boring. And this winter, booties have been a no-brainer; they offer the warmth of a regular boot and the style of a pump (I am loving Rock & Republic's leopard print ones.)  Any of these could be coupled together to make any outfit instantly chic.

Winter Inspirations

Current Temp in Minneapolis: -14*

With temperatures in the single or even negative digits, any attempt to be fashionable is trumped over the need for warmth. So, ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you the concept of layering. Not only will you stay warm, but look chic at the same time. Here are some of my current and practical winter inspirations.
